NWACF Hits $1 Million Endowment:
Adds Seven New Funds for $605,000

For Release: November 1, 2001

Springdale, AR - Northwest Arkansas Community Foundation (NWACF) joined the "millionaire's club" as hit a major milestone with the addition of seven new endowments for $605,000. The seven new funds include transfers of existing nonprofit endowments from Arts Center of the Ozarks, Bella Vista Courtesy Van, Botanical Garden Society of the Ozarks, Harold E. Henson Sr. Scholarship Fund, Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Benton County; the Hester Brown memorial Fund as a field of interest fund; plus Harrison and Rhonda French established an Horizon Society Fund. These seven new funds bring the total to 22, with 14 added just this year.

The Horizon Society Fund, established as a donor advised family fund, allows for individuals or agencies to build their endowments to either $10,000 as an agency endowment or $25,000 as An Advised Fund.

The sixth new fund, Hester Brown Memorial Fund, is the first field of interest fund and the first bequest for NWACF. This particular fund will award grants in the area of cardiac care.

The newest fund is the Harold E. Henson Sr. Scholarship Fund. This fund provides scholarship(s) to worthy students who are graduates of accredited high schools in Benton and Washington Counties. The selection committee, consisting of counselors from Springdale High School (and when a second high school is built), will review all scholarship applications and recommend a recipient to NWACF Board of Directors.
