The Barbara Mashburn Scholarship Foundation was created in late 1993 to help vocal majors complete their education. The first concert was presented in April 1994 at the Arts Center of the Ozarks. The purpose of the Foundation is to provide financial assistance in the form of college scholarships for high school graduates in northwest Arkansas having talent, financial needs and a desire to further education in the field of vocal music and drama.
These students are provided with more than tuition assistance. In addition to training students in performance and production, we help our students develop life skills that will serve them beyond their college careers whether they pursue lives as performers, producers, teachers, accountants, or doctors.
Scholarship recipients are selected from high school graduates living in northwest Arkansas. Initially, the Foundation supported one recipient and now numbers fourteen, all presently attending or planning to attend the University of Arkansas.
