The Bella Vista Courtesy Van was begun in January 1992 with a single 15-passenger van able to transport only riders able to walk. In 1995, a wheelchair accessible minivan was added and in 1997, the original large van was replaced with a new six-passenger minivan.

Bella Vista is mainly a retirement community with public or taxi service. The organization offers a much needed service. In fact, the vans now average 24 trips daily. The organization plans to add to their endowment so that replacement vans can be purchased from their endowment's income.
